Why Okley tours?

"There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about the experience we had down there. I miss snorkeling down in front of Casa Manta Ray!! (I saw eagle rays, an angel shark, countless moray eels, could not believe how much diversity there is in that spot!) Fernando treated us like family and it made all the difference in the world. Our trip to the Mariettas was one of our favorite outings. Ceviche on the beach! The snorkeling was outstanding- crystal blue water, endless shoals of countless varieties of fish...I could go on and on... just marvelous."

OKLEY BOAT CAPTIANS RODOLFO AND FERNANDO GARCIA OFFER THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:

(Prices listed are based on trips starting in Yelapa with a four person minimum.  If you would like a private tour or wish to start from another town, we are happy to provide pricing information.)

Whale Watching: On any of the following trips you may see whales.   And not to mention dolphins, sea turtles, and manta rays!  Rodolfo and Fernando are experts at spotting them from afar so on every trip you are bound to see something incredible.

Trip to Marietta’s Islands: This is a fantastic tour by boat to the nationally preserved Marietta’s Islands bird sanctuary.  Going with Rodolfo and Fernando will be unique because they can answer all your questions about the land, birds, plants and ocean life; they have been leading this tour since 1999.  The pair will also fish along the way and make you fresh fish ceviche and guacamole for a light lunch.  Not to mention that they include snorkeling gear in their price.

Price: $45/person

Fishing: Rodolfo and Fernando were fishing almost before they were walking. They have full equipment for sport fishing and will provide you with the best fishing experience you can get.  You are sure to have a great time with them, not to mention catch something delicious and photo worthy for dinner.   Fernando has been sport fishing since he was 16 and Rodolfo lead fishing trips for Vallarta Adventures for over 10 years.  They will fillet your catch for you and even cook it up if you like.  They'll also prepare sashimi on the boat!  If you plan to go out several times, bring a cooler and take your catch home.

Price: $45/hour (3 hour minimum)

Scuba Diving:  Fernando started free diving when he was 13 with his uncle Ramon and then moved to using an air compressor to help Ramon fish for lobster, octopus, and fish.  He became a certified diver when he was 19.  Fernando provides full equipment and two tanks of air for a couple hours diving and is certified to take you down.  Enjoy exploring the depths of the bay knowing you are safe with him!

Price: $120/person

Snorkeling:  Even if you aren't certified to scuba dive you can still explore what's under the water! Give snorkeling a go.  It's a fun, inexpensive, easy way to glimpse the tropical fish and plant life.  Rodulfo and Fernando have all the equipment.  You can use it to snorkel along the shores of Yelapa or they can take you to some of the more popular snorkeling areas.

Price: $20/person

Tacomata Waterfall:  Okley Activities discovered this excursion to an incredible waterfall and it quickly became a favorite among travelers.  The walk to the cascada is breathtaking, and it is the only waterfall in the area with a pool deep enough (and safe enough) to jump into from the rocks above.  Tecomata is located just past Pisota, which is a short boat ride.  Definitely consider it when you visit us in Yelapa.

Corrales Seafood Feast: The town of Corrales is located near the very end of Banderas Bay.   Rodolfo and Fernando will take you in the boat and along the way they will share interesting information about the bay and the towns.  When you arrive you will be the only ones on this serene beach.  Your captains will order up a seafood feast like none other - 5 - 8 courses of different dishes.  After you enjoy the food and rest, you can snorkel in the clear waters.

Zoo Excursion:  This is the perfect family outing and is Okley's newest trip.  Rodolfo and Fernando will take you to Boca in their boat and then on to the zoo in their truck.  It really is one big petting zoo filled with exotic animals that you can feed. Kids and adults alike will love it!  Who wouldn't want to feed a giraffe? Or pet a little baby lion cat?  Check out our photos to see more.

Sierra Madre Tour: This tour starts with a short boat trip to Boca where the brothers will change hats from captains to drivers.  If you aren't interested in a long boat excursion - book this tour.  You'll get to see traditional resilla distillation (a local liquor similar to tequila) and swim in hot springs.  The next stop will be at beautiful botanical gardens where you can enjoy all the tropical plants and flowers of the region.  On this trip you will see and learn about Jalisco, Banderas Bay, and the Sierra Madre mountain range.  Lunch can be purchased while at the hot springs.

Price: $180 for whole tour

Boat Excursions:  Have you heard of the other great places to visit in the area?  If you plan to be in town for more than a few days, ask about a trip to Chimo, Pisota, or Tehua.  If you want to go to another town not listed here, no problem! Rodolfo and Fernando would love to give you a lift.  You'll probably see dolphins, sea turtles, and even whales along the way.

Price: Varies by destination.  Just ask!

Wake Boarding and Skiing: Fernando and his friend Miguel have a blast wake boarding. If you are intersted in either of these two water sports let them know and they can take you out.

Hiking Tours:   Not sure of your sea legs?  Or do you just want to see more of Yelapa?  Then enjoy a local hike.  Rodulfo loves a good hike will take you back to the larger waterfall if you like.  This is a 3 hour hike round trip.  Of course, you can make this trip on your own too.  There are a great number of wonderful hikes for exploring even more areas of Yelapa.  We take them weekly, so just ask what we suggest. Have you heard of Geocaching?  There are caches in Yelapa too, so don't miss out!
